Teesside councillor denies speeding.

A Redcar and Cleveland councillor has appeared in court to face speeding charges.

Carl Quartermain, of Yew Tree Avenue, Redcar, appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Monday afternoon to enter not guilty pleas (November 5).

The 51-year-old denied speeding in a Honda Jazz in a 30mph zone on Outland Road, Plymouth, on February 11.

He also denied failing to provide information to identify who was driving.

Mr Quartermain is a cabinet member for culture, tourism and communications at Redcar and Cleveland Council as well as ward member for Coatham.

He appeared in a grey suit for the ten minute hearing.

A trial date has been set for January 8
