Stockton volunteers receive Queen's Award
It's been given to the Moses project
As the jubilee bank holiday continues a Stockton-based charity has scooped the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The Moses Project is run by Brian and Stella Jones and a small team of dedicated volunteers and is a lifeline for men with past and current addictions to drugs and alcohol.
Brian Jones says they're honoured to receive this award and it's more special as they're currently in London for the festivities.
"We were just overwhelmed and overjoyed, couldn't believe it really - shocked for one thing".
"We're just so pleased the volunteers have been recognised for all their work, it's just absolutely amazing."
"So we set about working with them to ensure there's a different life out there. and a different way"
"We want to give them that chance and that hope to move on with their lives."
"I'm pleased to say we've had many many success stories".
"Many people who've gone from the streets of Stockton back to working, back to their families, maybe married, living good full lives."
We say congratulations to the Moses project and all their volunteers.
