A Teesside theatre is preparing to give back to the community this year - with a free family festival to celebrate their year of being up and running.

Globefest is being launched by Stockton Globe on the 10th of September 2022 - and will involve live music, dance, poetry and more - and lots of kid friendly activities.

Working with the Council and Stockton BID - the historic Grade II-listed Art Deco venue will be using all of its areas to create a full festival experience, with the main auditorium forming a ‘Festival Hill’ and a variety of activities and events across two stages, The LINK, as well as a pop-up cinema, stalls and vendors throughout.

The community-led celebration will be accessible to all and will feature live music from local artists, magic, dance, kids entertainment, storytelling, poetry, treasure hunts, puppet shows, circus acts, drop in arts & crafts, face painting and balloon art.

Stockton Globe General Manager, Jo Ager, says “It’s been an absolutely amazing year for Stockton Globe, we’ve had so many incredible performances on the stage with some unbelievable talent passing through.

“The people of Stockton and beyond have welcomed the venue with open arms and now it’s time to celebrate and give something back to the community! We want one and all to grab their free GLOBEfest tickets and head along for a brilliant day of family fun… we promise it will be worth it!”

Councillor Steve Nelson, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Health, Leisure and Culture, said: “What a truly fantastic first year this has been since the newly-restored Globe reopened its doors to the public.

“The historic venue has once again made its mark hosting high profile acts to sell-out crowds, including Paloma Faith, Diversity and the worldwide smash hit musical We Will Rock You.

“The brilliant support from local people - and from farther afield – shows that there is a very healthy appetite in our area for quality live entertainment and demonstrates just how popular a venue the Globe can continue to be."
