Fire crews share safety message after deliberate fire in Middlesbrough allotments
Two fire engines were called to the scene at Banksfield's allotments earlier this month
The Cleveland fire crew has branded a blaze in Bankfield near Middlesbrough to have caused a significant amount of damage earlier this month.
On the 17th of July, a blaze which is thought to have started deliberately ripped through the allotments, with two engines called to the scene.
It damaged a fence.
The force say deliberate fires ruin communities, and ultimately put lives at risk.
In a statement on their Facebook page earlier this week, Cleveland Fire and Rescue said: "'Allot’ of damage!
"Earlier this month (17/07) crews were called to a fire at Banksfield’s allotments in Middlesbrough which is believed to have been started deliberately.
"Two fire engines and crews from Grangetown Fire Station attended the incident and used a Hose Reel to tackle the blaze which had destroyed the allotment fence.
"Deliberate fires ruin communities and put lives at risk! If you have any information regarding this or any other deliberate fire in your area, please let us know!"
