Police confirm one woman has died following a collision in Darlington

UPDATE 15:50: The A167 has now reopened

UPDATE: Police say a woman in her 20s has died following a collision on the A167 near Coatham Mundeville, Darlington in the early hours of this morning.

The passenger, a man also in his 20s, sustained serious injuries.

Officers say the road is expected to remain closed for some time.

You're being asked to avoid the area around the White Horse Hotel this morning.

Police say due to a serious incident the A167 between Junction 59 A1 and the hotel leading in and out of Darlington is closed.

No deatils about the incient have been released but the road will remain shut for a long time.

You'll need to find an alternative route.
