A North East charity says they are willing to replace the vandalised defibrillators in County Durham free of charge.

We have told you about how pads were stolen from three out of four defibs in West Auckland, meaning they are now out of use until it is fixed.

Segio Petrucci, co-founder of Red Sky Foundation, said: "These defibrillators are lifesaving and I would hate to think that because of somebody's actions about removing them, it would have implications of somebody else not being able to survive a sudden cardiac arrest, especially when we could step in and make the community and that local area a safer place to live.

"This gesture of the replacement of pads for the defibrillators comes from our charitable funds. We don't want anything back from it. We're just trying to do what we do best, which is to help save lives and make communities safer. If we can help save lives then it's one more job that we've done.

"The importance of having defibrillators across the North East and beyond the UK is paramount. They do make a difference. They do save lives. Time is crucial so if you're near one and you were to have a cardiac arrest then the chances of surviving can go from as little of seven percent all the way to nearly 80 percent."
