Polling Station changes across Middlesbrough mean schools will have to close

There's changes to almost 20 voting locations in Middlesbrough - ahead of next month's local elections - because of a shortage of portable cabins

Several schools - including Hemlington Hall Academy - will now have to close on May 6th to allow polling stations to be set up.

Thousands of Middlesbrough residents will cast their votes in the race to become the new Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner and to decide on a Tees Valley Mayor for the next four years on May 6.

Polling cards have already been sent out to homes across the town advising voters on their nearest voting place.

But Middlesbrough councillors were briefed on problems last night (Wednesday) amid what officials called a “national shortage” in the supply of mobile stations.

It is expected to mean changes in arrangements for around 20 polling stations in the town with several schools called into action.

If your local voting station is affected - it will tell you on the polling card where to go to cast your vote.
