North East husband gives message of hope after wife's transplant journey
Tim Phizackerley's wife Karen received THREE new organs and the couple are now behind a new Christmas song to raise money for liver charity.
A North East man whose wife was given just three weeks to live says there IS hope for anyone waiting on the transplant this Christmas.
Tim Phizackerley's wife Karen has had three life-saving transplants at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, after being told she was terminally ill.
Karen's received two new livers and a new kidney and husband Tim is urging people to stay positive in the face of bad news.
He said: "We've been on the receiving end of really bad news more than once and we've come out the other side.
"I think that is the most important thing for anybody to hear, who's had some some really bad news in the last few weeks.
"No matter how bleak things look, there is always hope."
The couple, living in Barnard Castle, are now behind a new Christmas song in a bid to raise money for local charity LIVErNORTH.
Based in the North East, LIVErNORTH is run by unpaid volunteers and funds pioneering research at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.
The single, called I Remember Every Christmas Day, was written by the couple and produced by Andrew Yeadon.
Tim said: "Neither Karen or I are songwriters, we just had this idea to write a Christmas song that wouldn't go away.
"Karen wrote the music, I wrote the words and thought actually this isn't so bad!
"Once we got it and we thought it was okay, we thought we better do some good with it."
