20 year old man arrested after fatal collision in Norton
Police are appealing for information
Police have confirmed that a person sadly died as a result of road traffic collision on Norton’s Junction Road in the early hours of yesterday morning (July 30).
Police and other emergency services attended the scene from 5.47am yesterday. The collision involved two vehicles, a blue Land Rover Freelander and a blue Nissan Qashqai.
Sadly, a male passenger in the Land Rover Freelander lost his life. The male has not yet been formally identified so police are not releasing further details at this time but specially trained officers are offering support to his family.
The driver of the Land Rover Freelander, a 20-year-old-man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
At the time of the collision the Land Rover Freelander is thought to have been travelling westbound, at excessive speed and on the wrong side of the road, where it was then in collision with the Qashqai.
Officers investigating the circumstances are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision on Junction Road to contact them.
Police are also appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or CCTV to contact them on 101, reference 133388.
