Hartlepool United have confirmed their Chief Executive has stepped down - just weeks before the new season starts.

Russ Green began working at Victoria Oak in 2002, originally arriving as Commericial Manager before being appointed as Chief Executive five years later.

He was named as Chief Executive of the Year in both 2014 and 2015 and played a key role in bringing in new owners JPNG.

Chairman Gary Coxall said:

“After 14 years of service Russ has earned the right to put himself first.

“He will always be welcome at The Vic and I’m sure we’ll see him at many games because he has an enormous passion for this Football Club.

“I would like to thank Russ for all his effort and commitment over the years, in particular over the last twelve months during which he has helped JPNG settle in as owners.

“I want to re-assure all supporters that this development won’t affect our plans to drive the Club forward and everyone behind the scenes is working hard to make sure 2016/17 is an exciting season.”
