A CCTV image has been released in an attempt to track down a suspected fly-tipper in Middlesbrough.

A blue van was caught on camera entering the former Southlands Centre site on Ormesby Road on Monday at 12.45pm.

A man was seen appearing to dump bricks, rubble and carpets.

A member of the public reported the incident to a local councillor, who passed it on to Middlesbrough Council's Environmental Flying Squad who checked CCTV and will clear up the mess on site.

Mayor of Middlesbrough Andy Preston said: "Fly-tipping is a disgusting crime and we are now stamping it out.

"We need to identify this person caught on CCTV and get hold of them, fast. If anyone knows who this man is please let us know as soon as possible."

Any information on the man's identity and his whereabouts can be sent in confidence to evidence@middlesbrough.gov.uk, quoting reference number 553430.

You can also call the Warden Hotline on 01642 228500 and ask to speak to a member of staff from the Environmental Flying Squad.
