Police are warning people about the dangers of illegal drugs, after eleven people from the Cleveland area were taken to hospital on Saturday afternoon.

It's believed they were the victims of a so-called 'bad batch' of spice, although this isn't confirmed.

Meanwhile in Newcastle, three deaths this weekend have also been linked to spice.

In a statement on Twitter, Cleveland Police said:

"Those who do take illegal drugs should be aware, refrain from their use, and seek immediate medical attention if they become unwell.

"Support services are available for drugs users and their families to seek help and treatment to stop the use of illegal substances."
