Durham School to close for 3 days after spike in Covid-19 cases

Framwellgate School in Durham will be closed from today (Tuesday 22nd June) for the rest of the week after a spike in Covid-19 cases.

300 pupils and 8 teachers are having to self-isolate, leading school authorities to decide to close for the rest of the week as a "circuit breaker".

Headmaster Andy Byers told us he hopes they can reopen next week, and other schools should be aware of the virulent Delta Strain of Covid, first reported in India.

He says people should also be aware of different symptoms to the previous strains.

The school will revert back to online learning from tomorrow.
