Woman has finger tip bitten off by dog in Guisborough
Police are appealing after a woman’s finger tip was bitten off by a dog in Guisborough.
The woman, aged in her forties, was walking her dog on King George V playing fields on Howlbeck Road on the morning of Tuesday 24th August when she stopped to talk to another dog walker.
Both dogs were let off their lead, when the man’s dog immediately attacked the woman’s dog. In trying to get the dog away, it bit the woman on the finger, leaving her without a finger tip and requiring surgery.
The dog has been described as a female Staffordshire bull terrier, around 3 years old, and it was brindle with a white chest.
Officers are keen to trace the male and the dog. The male is described as white, around 5ft 8” tall, bald and “well built”. The man spoke with a South Yorkshire accent and was wearing jeans and a T-shirt.
Police would appeal to the owner of the dog to come forward or any witnesses to the incident to contact them, by calling 101 and quoting incident number 142563.
