Recruitment drop-in sessions for Darlington Treasury jobs
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen has today (1 September) called on local people who would like to work at the government’s new Darlington Northern Economic Campus to take part in a series of online drop-in sessions before time runs out.
A total of 14 jobs are currently being advertised across a range of roles at the Treasury’s new campus, many of which close to applications on Sunday, 5 September with others following suit next week.
To make sure local people take advantage of these positions, Mayor Houchen is urging anyone keen start a rewarding career in the Civil Service, without having to leave the region, to take a look at the roles and to get applying. Jobs on offer include roles in policy, finance, legal and analysis.
Treasury recruiters are running the online candidate support drop-in session today at 5pm-6pm (Wednesday, 1 September) along with specific drop-in sessions giving people a chance to speak to hiring managers for individual roles on 2 September and 6 September.
The Mayor’s call comes just days after it was announced the Department for International Trade (DIT) has accelerated its recruitment in the area for UK Trade and Investment North, also based in Darlington. It aims to have 500 roles in the town by 2030. Alongside the Treasury and DIT, it has also been announced the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, plus the Office of National Statistics and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, will be basing themselves in Darlington, in addition to the existing Department for Education office.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “There are a raft of opportunities opening up right now, and plenty more to come in the future as Government continues to go even further in committing to bringing civil servants of all types to its new Darlington Northern Economic Campus.
“I want to make it clear to people across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool that these aren’t jobs only to be filled by someone looking to relocate here - they are there for the taking by local people. We have a wealth of local talent and I want to see that represented across all the departments coming here.
“These roles show that local people can get on and succeed in a well-paid, good quality career in the civil service without having to leave the region they love and call home, or relocate to cities like Manchester or London. I’d urge anyone to check out these fantastic opportunities and apply, as well as keeping their eyes peeled for more vacancies coming our way.”
Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, Kemi Badenoch, said: “These exciting roles at our new cross-government hub in Darlington are the first of many opportunities in the region as we decentralise decision making and level up the country.
“We want to diversify the way we make policy and broaden our access to skills and talent so I encourage as many people locally – and from further afield – to apply now and join our growing team in Darlington.”
A range of roles are becoming available across these departments, including those being advertised for the Treasury. Details of the roles available, and more information on the online sessions for the Policy Adviser roles, can be found at TeesValley.Jobs
