Lady Gaga chooses Tony Bennett to sing at her wedding
The singer will perform at her wedding
Jazz singer Tony Bennett has revealed that he will perform at Lady Gaga’s wedding, after receiving an invitation to the event.
Gaga announced her engagement to actor Taylor Kinney on Valentine’s Day, posting an image of her heart-shaped ring on Instagram.
“She’s marrying a very wonderful man, very talented and very handsome,” Bennett told The New York Times.
“I think he’s going to be highly successful in films. He’s a very nice person.”
Speaking about his performance at the wedding he said: “They invited me to do it and, of course, I will.”
No date or venue have been announced by the Gaga and Kinney, and Bennett is remaining tight-lipped on the subject.
He added: “All I know is, knowing Lady Gaga, it will be fabulous.”
Gaga has been outspoken in her praise for Tony Bennett, after the pair collaborated for jazz-inspired duets album ‘Cheek To Cheek’ in 2014.
They met at a New York charity function for The Robin Hood Foundation in 2011 and became good friends, most recently performing together at the 2015 Grammys.
Meanwhile, Julie Andrews has revealed that Mother Monster phoned her prior to her incredible tribute to ‘The Sound Of Music’ at last month’s Oscars ceremony.
The pop star performed a medley of songs from Andrew’s classic film, displaying her full vocal range.
Andrews told People: “Gaga phoned me 10 days before the ceremony and said ‘I just want to talk to you and make sure I don’t offend you; that what I’m doing is OK with you.’ It was very generous of her.”
The ‘Sound Of Music’ star also admitted that she was worried about Gaga attempting to reach the high notes in some of the musical’s songs.
She said: “Gaga said she had been working so hard on singing everything in my keys. I said ‘Why? They’re high, even for me.’ Gaga replied ‘I wanted to honour you, so I’m doing them in your keys.’ That seemed to go one step beyond any place she needed to go.”
