A mum of four, who's battle with cancer caught the attention of thousands of people across Teesside, has died.

A fundraising page for 41 year old Ferzana Khan reached almost £60 000 in just 5 days, hoping to get her to Germany for immunotherapy treatment.

This weekend, her cousin, Shazia Noor, organised a charity walk up Roseberry Topping, which helped bring the total to over £57 000.

Shazia tells us the generosity of people across Teesside and beyond has astounded them;

“Everybody from the community on Teesside, the wonderful people out there, have gone out of their way to contribute.

“We’ve had people from London, Birmingham, everywhere!”

The money raised was to be used to get Ferzana to Germany and pay for the treatment she needed, as her weakened condition meant she couldn’t be included in a UK program.

But the organisers are hoping the money can be used to help other people suffering in the same position.

Speaking to us just days ago Shazia explained it’s been tough for the family;

“We just hope now that we can get her there, because she’s deteriorating as well so it’s a matter of how quickly we can get her there.

“It’s a really hard time, you can imagine, her youngest is 5, and her husband has had to leave his job to care for her full time.

“They’re so drained with everything that’s going on but what’s so amazing with them is not once have I seen them give up hope.”
