Sunderland footballer Adam Johnson won’t be suspended from the club, following the 27-year-old being charged with sexual activity with a child and grooming.
That appears to mean he could still play against Stoke.
The winger who’s previously played for England and Middlesbrough was arrested last month and has now been charged with three offences of sexual activity with a child under 16 and one of grooming.
Sunderland have released this statement:
“Following yesterday's statement from Durham Constabulary, the club recognises that the formal legal process must take its course and whilst our position remains unchanged, we will keep the matter under review.
“The club will not be making any further comment.”
He is due to appear at Peterlee Magistrates on May 20th.
