Second arrest after Northallerton burglary
Detectives have arrested a second man from Merseyside on suspicion of aggravated burglary following a violent incident in Northallerton.
The 39-year-old is being held in custody for questioning. This follows the arrest of a 28-year-old man from the Wirral, Merseyside, on Friday in connection with the same incident, which occurred at a house on Vicars Croft in Northallerton at around 11pm on Tuesday 18 October 2016.
Detective Inspector Steve Menzies, of the Northallerton Serious Crime Team, said: “Whilst we are keeping an open mind, I want to reassure local residents that we believe this incident was specifically targeted. A 26-year-old local man is recovering from injuries sustained during the incident.
“Significant resources have been deployed to establish what has occurred and to bring all of those who are criminally involved, in whatever way, to justice.”
DI Menzies added: “Whilst we are taking positive strides forward in the investigation, I am still appealing to anyone who is yet to speak to the police and who may have any information or who has witnessed anything, to come forward and speak in confidence to my team.
“The incident took place at around 11pm on Tuesday 18 November, following which a car is known to have made off at speed from Vicars Croft in Northallerton. I want people to check any private CCTV, including vehicle dash cameras, to see if anything was captured prior to, during or following the incident.”
