Pensioner attacked in Stokesley

Attack happened yesterday (29th Sept) morning.

Police in Stokesley are appealing for witnesses after a 79-year-old man was attacked by two men who called at his door.

Between 9am and 10am on the morning of Thursday 29 September 2016, the men called at his home on Leven Road, attacked him and ran off towards Westlands.

The man suffered eye injuries as a result of the assault and was taken to hospital.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw two men acting suspiciously in Leven Road, or the surrounding area, to contact them along with anyone else who has information that could help the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Chris Parker-Beagrie of Northallerton Serious Crime Team, said:

“This was a cowardly assault on an elderly man. We appreciate that local people may be concerned about that someone is targeting elderly residents, however, we believe that the attack was isolated and that the wider community are not at risk. Our priority is find the people responsible and I am appealing to anyone in the area who can assist our investigation to please get in touch as soon as possible.”
