The debut EP of a County Durham singer-songwriter has been nominated for an award at what's been dubbed the North East's first music awards.

Craig Roddam's EP Believe In What You Want has been shortlisted for Best EP at the UBeat Music Awards.

The 27-year-old from Tudhoe is currently studying music at Bishop Auckland, where his teachers say he's determined to be a performer.

The awards will take place on December 4th, and have will be televised to a potential audience of 200,000 on Made in Tyne and Wear.

80 acts from across the North East are nominated across 11 categories, and Craig will be up against seven other singers in his group.

The musician said: "I am absolutely overwhelmed and privileged to be nominated for 'Best EP' along with some amazing artists in the North East and very excited to be part of the region's first ever music awards show."

"This has been a long time coming and hopefully will be the start of bigger things."

Craig has also audition to producers from Britain's Got Talent, and is currently waiting to hear if he'll be allowed to audition for the judges later this year.
