10-year-old Ormesby robbery victim gets new bike just in time for Christmas
Lee Moore was assaulted and robbed outside Morrisons in Ormesby last Thursday.
A 10-year-old youngster who was kicked and punched in a Middlesbrough bike robbery has been given a new bike just in time for Christmas.
Lee Moore, of Pallister Park, was assaulted by a man believed to be in mid-20s while he was stood outside Morrisons on Thursday.
His mother Michelle Moore says the youngster hasn't been out of the house since the attack, which left him shaken.
She said: "They pushed him off the bike, ragged him around a bit was his words, then they hit him in his side.
"They've just got no morals.
"It's bad enough happening to an adult, but a child?
It's awful."
When shop manager Martin Scott heard Lee's story on TFM he knew he had to do something to help.
As a Halford's employee Martin was keen to replace the bike Lee had stolen from him during the assault.
He contacted TFM who arranged for him to meet Lee and his family.
He said: "Sometimes you get soppy at my sort of age and it's a good sort of thing to do at Christmas to show that it's not all corporate.
"That's what it's about, kids having a good time."
Lee was stunned when he saw his new bike for the first time, and was left speechless.
His mam Michelle said: "His face said it all.
"If he goes out on it I think he'll be a bit dubious but I think he's absolutely over the moon.
"It's put a smile back on the bairn's face, which says it all."
