Kensington Palace have officially confirmed that Meghan Markle's dad, Thomas Markle, will not attend the Royal Wedding on Saturday 19th May 2018. It had been previously believed that Meghan, who is set to marry Prince Henry of Wales (known as Prince Harry), would be walked down the aisle by her father. However the official statement has confirmed this will now not be the case as he focuses on 'his health'.
The statement read, 'Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health. I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.'
The couple announced their engagement on the 27th November 2017 with a statement that also revealed they will live at Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace after they have wed.
Shortly after the announcement the happy couple posed for an engagement photoshoot showing off the gorgeous engagement ring that Prince Harry designed for his fiancée.
Since the announcement, many details surrounding the day have been revealed including full details of the timings, the cake, many of the guests and who will be performing on the special day.
Last month Prince Harry confirmed that his brother, The Duke of Cambridge would be taking on the important role of Best Man. The news that The Duke of Cambridge would have this role was finally confirmed after many months of speculation. Back in January the Duke was asked if he would be Best Man, he awkwardly replied, "He hasn't asked me yet - it could be a sensitive issue."
The Royal Wedding is on the 19th May which is the same day as the FA Cup final. Whilst the timings of the wedding ceremony were released earlier this year - and they won't clash directly with the FA Cup final - it is highly likely that the Duke of Cambridge, who is also president of the FA, will have his hands full at the Royal wedding!
Most recently details of the bridesmaids and page boys were released which includes Prince Harry's young niece and nephew, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Kensington Palace made the exciting announcement on Twitter saying, 'Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have chosen the Bridesmaids and Page Boys for their Wedding on Saturday 19th May #RoyalWedding' with a link to their statement.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will get married on Saturday 19th May with the ceremony starting at midday. You can read everything you need to know about the Royal Wedding here.
