Woman and two children rushed to hospital after suspected arson attack in Manchester

A blaze ripped through a home in Moston on Wednesday night

A woman and two children have been taken to hospital after a house fire in Manchester, which is being treated as a suspected arson attack.

Emergency services were called to a property on Dean Brook Close, Moston shortly before 10pm on Wednesday.

The blaze involved the living room of the address and a nearby vehicle, police said.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Emergency services are responding to a fire at a property on Dean Brook Close in Moston. All occupants of the house were safely evacuated. A woman and two children have been treated for smoke inhalation and have been taken to hospital for treatment.

"Two dogs were also removed from the house and neighbours in nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution. Police believe this to be an arson incident. No arrests have been made and our investigation is ongoing."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 9.45pm on Wednesday 17 July, fire crews were called to reports of a fire at a home on Dean Brook Close, Manchester.

“Three fire engines from Manchester Central, Philips Park and Blackley fire stations quickly attended the incident, which involved the living room of the property and a nearby vehicle. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reels to extinguish the fire.

“Three people have been taken to hospital. GMFRS crews remain at the scene, working alongside Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe.”
