Northumbria Police have confirmed a 16-year-old boy, arrested in connection with the Sycamore Gap tree being chopped down, has now been bailed.
The force say enquiries are continuing and are asking for anyone with further information to come forward.
The world woke up on Thursday morning to the news that the iconic tree, photographed millions of times, had been felled.
It featured in movies, Kevin Costner's Robin Hood, music videos, people proposed in front of it and people had their ashes scattered under it.
The North East and rest of the UK reacted with shock, disbelief and anger when pictures emerged of the aftermath.

The felling of the tree sparked outrage on social media with many taking to X (Twitter) to express their sadness at the news, with many more sharing memories of visiting the tree themselves.
