Many households woke up to snow in parts of the South West this morning.
The unseasonable weather affected many key routes, with cars reduced to a crawl along sections of the M4 and M5.
In Wiltshire, two lorries collided on the A36 after losing traction in the snow, closing the road between Warminster (A350) and Heytesbury (B3414), to allow for the vehicles to be recovered.
This morning, Avon & Somerset Police issued motorists in Bath and North East Somerset with a warning to avoid all unnecessary travel after several collisions and a number of vehicles becoming trapped.
National Highways also urged motorists to expect longer journey times than expected.
Posting on X, it said: "Be reminded that gritting doesn't prevent snow from settling on the road."
The A361 Blatchbridge Rd to Marston in Somerset was among other roads closed due to ice and snow.
A Met Office Weather warning for snow was lifted at 10.00am this morning.
Forecasters don't expect the snow to hang around for long, with any remaining snow expected to turn to rain throughout Saturday.
Any snow settled on the ground is likely to thaw rapidly.
