North Yorkshire Police have launched an appeal for information and witnesses following a car crash that left a baby seriously injured.

Police first received reports of a crash on the B6265 between the villages of Glasshouses and Risplith at about 3:20 p.m. on Friday afternoon (May 31st).

The crash took place close to the nearby settlement of Fellbeck, and involved a blue Peugeot Boxer campervan travelling towards Glasshouses.

The campervan eventually crashed into a Volkswagen T-Roc that had been travelling in the opposite direction.

According to the police, those travelling in the T-Roc, including three adults, a teenager and one-year-old baby all were injured in the crash.

The baby in particular suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by emergency services, where they currently remain.

In addition to the injuries sustained by those travelling in the T-Roc, the driver of the campervan was also injuries, though these were considered to be minor.

In order to treat the victims of the crash, the road was closed - as well as to allow forensic investigators to carry out their work with no disruption.

Following their enquiries, and once the vehicles had been recovered, the road was re-opened at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday morning (June 1st).

North Yorkshire Police are now appealing for witnesses and information as investigators now begin their enquiries trying to piece together the events leading up to the crash.

Anyone who may have seen the crash take place, have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the crash, or those who may have any other relevant information are being urged to get in touch as soon as possible.

Those who may have any potential information is being asked to contact TC Chris Storey from the force's Roads Policing Group, quoting incident reference number 12240095990.
