NI Election 2022: Day One Results Highlights

Counting for Northern Ireland's Assembly Election is underway.

Votes are being counted at three centres - Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast, Ulster University in Jordanstown and Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt.

East Antrim is the first constituency to be fully declared on day one of the count.

What do we know so far?

Sinn Fein is on track to their best-ever performance in the Stormont Elections.

Sinn Fein vice-president Michelle O’Neill has been re-elected on the first count in Mid-Ulster, while DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson was also re-elected in Lagan Valley.

Alliance leader Naomi Long dedicated her re-election as an MLA for East Belfast to her father-in-law who recently died.
