Most of the UK will be in the tougher two tiers for coronavirus restrictions once lockdown has been lifted.

On the 2nd December the UK will come out of lockdown and back into a new tougher three tier system, with different restrictions for different areas.

Very few areas are in the lowest tier (tier 1), most have been placed into tiers 2 and 3.

Which tiers are the big cities in?

London will be in Tier 2 along with Liverpool.

Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Sheffield and South Yorkshire are in tier 3 with Stoke-on-Trent. Newcastle, Leeds and Hull

How can I find the restrictions where I live?

You can type you postcode into the government's postcode checker or there's a list of which areas are in which tiers here.

What happened to the government's postcode checker?

A postcode checker on the Government website for people to determine which tier they would be in appeared to crash shorty after it went live.

It initially showed areas like Kent would be in the toughest Tier 3, but people checking later were faced with the message: “Sorry, we’re experiencing technical difficulties.”
