Man seriously hurt after M6 crash involving FIVE lorries

It happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning

A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the M6 involving four HGVs and a tanker.

The incident took place on the northbound side of the motorway between Junctions 18 for Holmes Chapel and Junction 19 for Tabley, at around 4am on Tuesday 4 June.

One person, a man, is believed to have sustained serious injuries in the collision. He has been taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

A number of lanes on the northbound carriageway were closed on Tuesday whilst recovery work took place, causing significant delays for motorists.

Superintendent Gareth Wrigley said:

“I appreciate the disruption that this incident is likely to cause, and I want to reassure motorists that we are working hard to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

“However, due to the scale of the collision, we are expecting the closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.

“Local diversion are in place, but we are urging motorists to avoid the area and delay their journeys if possible.”
