Search for Katie Kenyon continues in new area as man due to appear in court
Yesterday police moved their search for the 33-year-old to a different part of the Forest of Bowland after new information came to light from a member of the public
A week on since mum of two Katie Kenyon went missing, and a man charged with her murder is due back in court.
50-year-old Andrew Burfield of Todmorden Road in Burnley will appear before Preston Crown Court later after an initial appearance at Blackburn Magistrate's yesterday (28th April).
Police have since moved their search for Katie to a different part of the Forest of Bowland after new information came to light from a member of the public regarding the silver Ford Transit van a woman who fits Katie's description was last seen getting into.
They say officers and forensic teams could stay there searching for a number of days to determine whether the new area could be linked to the 33-year-old's disappearance.
In a statement yesterday, Lancashire Police said:
"Katie's family are aware of the development, although at this early stage it is too soon to say if the find is linked to her disappearance and we would urge people not to speculate on social media as this could cause the family additional distress.
"We will of course update you when we know more, although as I’m sure people will understand, our activity could take a number of days."
Family and Friends have set up a fundraiser in Katie's memory. Friends say she's left "a hole impossible to fill".
