Blue singer Duncan James was rushed to hospital after being forced to pull out of his performance at Hits Live in Liverpool.

Duncan, who has been a member of the four-piece boyband since its inception in 2000, was due to perform at the M&S Bank Arena on Saturday night (June 1st) alongside his bandmates.

However, with hours to go until he was due to take to the stage, the singer from Salisbury shared a post from a hospital bed confirming he would be performing.

In a video that he recorded from his hospital bed, he explained that he had to be admitted after a routine procedure "went wrong".

"I was admitted to have a correction of a procedure that happened two weeks ago and went a little bit wrong," he said.

"I was rushed in and had it all fixed. I was kept in overnight and I am waiting to find out if I can go home today, fingers crossed."

However, due to his time in hospital, he confirmed he would not be able to perform at the Hits Live event, which drew in thousands of music fans to see some of their favourite singers perform.

James explained that he was "gutted" to miss out on the opportunity to play the event, but needed to take the advice from medical professionals that were treating him.

He went on to apologise for the inconvenience, and gave thanks to his other bandmates for deciding to continue with the show.

Blue were a chart-topping group during their initial run from 2000 to 2005, with hits like "All Rise" and "One Love" performing well on the charts.

The group temporarily disbanded, before reuniting to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011, finishing in 11th place.

Since then, the band have gone on to release three studio albums over the past decade, whilst pursuing their own solo projects.
