Brianna Ghey: Funeral of murdered teenager to be held in Warrington

The funeral of a teenager who was stabbed to death in a Warrington park is set to be held later.

16-year-old Brianna Ghey was found stabbed to death at Culcheth Linear Park on the 11th of February.

Two 15-year-olds, a boy and a girl - who can't be named for legal reasons - have appeared in court and are charged with her murder, a provisional trial date has been set for July.

A service is set to be held at 2:45pm at St Elphin's Parish Church with people being asked to wear pink.

In a post on social media, Chester Pride wrote: "Funeral arrangements have been made for beautiful Brianna, people are welcome to attend.

"Please be advised that large crowds are expected and people wishing to attend are encouraged to proudly wear Pink."

Tens of thousands of people across the country paid tribute to the teenager last month when dozens of candle-lit vigils were held.

In a statement, Brianna's family have previously said: "Brianna was a much-loved daughter, granddaughter, and baby sister.

"She was a larger-than-life character who would leave a lasting impression on all that met her.

"Brianna was beautiful, witty and hilarious. Brianna was strong, fearless and one of a kind.
