Former First Minister candidate Ash Regan has resigned from the SNP and joined the ALBA party.
The news was announced by former First Minister and founder of the ALBA party Alex Salmond at their conference this afternoon.
Ms Regan will now be ALBA's first and only MSP and has been given the title of Holyrood leader for the party.
Ash Regan said: "It has been an honour to serve the people of Scotland as an MSP and a Minister.
"Sadly, it has become increasingly clear that the SNP has lost its focus on Independence, the very foundation of its existence.
"I could not, in good conscience, continue to be part of a party that has drifted from its path and its commitment to achieving Independence as a matter of urgency."
Alex Salmond said he is 'delighted' to welcome Ash Regan to the party.
We've approached the SNP for a response.
