An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a van in Liverpool.

Emergency services were called to Prescot Street just before 8pm last night.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene.

Officers are now asking any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm we are currently in attendance following a road traffic collision in Kensington.

"At around 7.55pm, we received a report that a Ford Transit vehicle was involved in a collision with an 11-year-old boy on Prescot Street.

"The child has been taken to hospital. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene.
