Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn has told title challengers Hibernian: "We are better than you."
Mark Warburton's side lost their first league game of the season 2-1 at Easter Road last weekend to see their lead at the top of the Scottish Championship cut to five points.
The Light Blues bounced back with a convincing 4-0 win over bottom side Alloa at Ibrox on Saturday where Waghorn helped himself to a double. There were further goals from right-back James Tavernier and substitute Nicky Clark as the visitors' Eddie Ferns was shown a straight red in the 78th minute for a challenge on substitute Jordan Thompson.
Waghorn then turned on Hibs, who stayed five points behind with a 4-1 win over St Mirren in Paisley.
The 25-year-old said: "I'm not really bothered (about Hibs). It's more about us and I know that we'll win the majority of the games we play and if we keep doing that we're going to win the league.
"Hibs caught us on an off day and credit to them but we're a better side than them and we've shown that in the league with 12 out of 13 wins.
"We will keep doing what we do and they can try and catch us.
"(Losing to Hibs) was a setback but the best way to come back was to play like we did against Alloa.
"They have been having their digs and saying things in the papers. It was just important we bounced back in the right way and showed our quality on the pitch rather than in the papers.
"It was one game and one win and we are still five points ahead of them.
"They can say what they want but we know how good we are and we're going to build on that."
Waghorn moved on to 17 goals and refused to rule out the prospect of reaching between 30 and 35 by the end of the season.
When asked if that was achievable, the former Leicester and Wigan forward said: "I don't see why not. I'm on 17 and I still think I can get better, I still think there is a lot more to come.
"On another day I could have got three or four. I think it's achievable. I want to keep working hard for the team.
"The way we started was very important. We came out flying and took Alloa by surprise. We showed how good we can be and it was good to get the goals."
