Morton have scrapped their new strip after being inundated with complaints by fans.

Supporters will now be able to vote on next season's kit after a U-turn by the club.

The Greenock club had unveiled a blue top with white sleeves and sides earlier this week, sparking protests over the lack of their traditional hoops.

A club statement read: "Due to the huge number of emotional appeals to the club regarding the choice of strip for the forthcoming season, the GMFC board have considered the fans' views and would like to announce that the new home shirt for the next campaign will be chosen by our loyal supporters.

"The club and Smiths of Greenock have been working tirelessly to explore the options available to us and to meet the tight timescales ahead.

"We will give supporters the opportunity to vote between a choice of 4 or 5 shirts; these bespoke designs will reflect the feedback we received in all recent communications to the club."
