McFadden Targeting Scotland Return

James McFadden admits Craig Gordon's return to the international fold has inspired him to believe his own international career is not yet finished. Gordon, 31, was snapped up on a free by Celtic in the summer and had not played a competitive game in more than two years due to injuries before he made his debut against St Johnstone in August. His subsequent form earned the former Hearts and Sunderland keeper a recall into Gordon Strachan's Scotland squad for the 2016 European Championship qualifiers. McFadden, 31, capped 48 times, last played for the national team in the 2-1 win over Liechtenstein in September, 2010 and is currently without a team. He left Motherwell in May, having returned to his first club in 2013. He also played for Everton twice, Birmingham and Sunderland and is now training with Partick Thistle as he awaits the right offer. After helping to make the draw for the second-round of the William Hill Scottish Cup in Glasgow, McFadden pointed to Gordon as one reason why he has not given up on Scotland. "I am not finished yet so we will see what happens," he said. "Seriously. You never know, do you? "Craig Gordon had been out for two years and he comes back and is back involved in the squad. "I have to have that aim or else there is no point in playing football. "I play for the love of the game and for enjoyment and whenever I get a team, hopefully, I can get back playing to the level I know I can play at. "Obviously it is a bit different with Craig, he has been out for a long time and he has come back and gone straight back in. "But it just shows you, if you are back playing well then the manager will pick you, it doesn't matter your age or how long you have been out." McFadden is hopeful of getting a new club soon and insists he will not "hold teams to ransom." He said: "I am ready to go. I have six good weeks training at Thistle and I feel sharp. "I have had offers but whatever has been there hasn't been right for one reason or another. "The next move has got to be the right one and I am going to have to make a decision pretty quickly. "I just need somewhere to play to show what I can do
