Jamie Langfield confident of St Mirren improvement against Morton
St Mirren goalkeeper Jamie Langfield believes they can kick-start their season against local rivals Morton on Tuesday night.
St Mirren goalkeeper Jamie Langfield believes they can kick-start their season against local rivals Morton on Tuesday night.
Saints are three points adrift at the foot of the Ladbrokes Championship and face a team who could get into the promotion play-off positions with victory at Cappielow.
But Langfield feels the Buddies are looking sharper under new management team Jack Ross and Jamie Fowler and are ready to start looking up the table.
Langfield, who saved a penalty in a 2-0 defeat against Hibernian on Saturday in a milestone appearance, told his club's official website: "For me to play 50 times for my local team that I supported is a massive achievement and something that I'm very proud of.
"It's a great milestone to reach and it would be even sweeter if we get the result on Tuesday night and we can really kick-start our season.
On the impact of former Alloa manager Ross, Langfield added: "He's brought a youthfulness, a right togetherness; his demands are very high and you can see the way the boys are working.
"A lot of people talk about fitness, but I don't think it has anything to do with fitness. I just think we are looking a bit sharper and now it's all about breeding confidence in the team to get the results and I'm sure he and James Fowler are the men to do it."
