John Hughes was pleased with the second debut of Inverness midfielder Iain Vigurs despite his side's 0-0 draw with Partick Thistle.
The midfielder, who signed before kick-off on Wednesday for his second spell in the Highland capital, came on in the second half and looked lively.
Vigurs had been out of contract since being released by Motherwell in the summer and had been playing in the Highland League with Inverurie Locos.
Despite failing to find the back of the net for the fourth game in five, Vigurs' introduction to his side pleased Inverness manager Hughes.
Iain fits into that category of someone who comes in to work very hard.
I think he's an exceptional footballer and he's exactly what we need. He'll be good for us.
He's been training with us for a few weeks and has acquitted himself very well. He's got the know-how of the Scottish Premier League and it was good to get that kind of experience in.
I want to make him a better player. He's got a sweet left foot and gives us competition for places. He fits in with (Dani) Lopez and (Andrea) Mbuyi-Mutombo, that we need to get them up to speed.''
Hughes added that Caley Thistle's start to the season does not concern him and he believes things are starting to click into place.
I'm not really too concerned this early in the season,'' he added.
Some of the stuff we're playing is good, we just need to make it better.''
Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald will be hoping Mathias Pogba's hamstring injury does not prove too serious.
The new signing was taken off after 18 minutes and replaced by Kris Doolan.
Hopefully because we got him off early it's not too bad. We'll assess it in the morning,'' said Archibald.
It wasn't as if he opened it up and felt it go, so hopefully it's just a strain.''
Archibald felt the visitors created the better chances in the draw, with both goalkeepers making saves.
I thought we created the more clear-cut chances, although to be fair John's team has created two good saves from our goalkeeper.
From our point of view, we just need to be a bit more clinical. There was a couple of 3-v-2 opportunities where we didn't choose the right option.''
