Hamilton 1 Ross County 0
Dougie Imrie was the hero as Hamilton bagged their first win of the season and only their second in 16 home games.
Imrie pounced in the 76th minute to slam home his fourth goal of the season following good play by Darian MacKinnon during a goalmouth scramble.
The goal came just seconds after County had nearly taken the lead as Alex Schalk's cross found Michael Gardyne at the back post, who forced a terrific one-handed save from Remi Matthews.
The goal was probably deserved for Hamilton, who had more chances even if County's were more potent at times.
County started well and two minutes in, a corner from the left was headed off the near post by Andrew Davies.
Five minutes later Hamilton's Georgios Sarris was forced into evasive action as he headed a Jonathan Franks cross past the right post to safety.
Hamilton came into the game at that point and Gramoz Kurtaj's superb pass sent MacKinnon through and he found Greg Docherty, whose shot was well parried by Scott Fox.
Dougie Imrie's corner from the right was knocked out to Kurtaj on the left and his cross was headed towards goal by Alex D'Acol but Fox recovered to save well.
Docherty and Kurtaj combined to set up Massimo Donati just outside the box in the 19th minute but his curling shot was well held by Fox.
County were not out of it though and Chris Routis' corner from the left was headed just over by Paul Quinn.
Four minutes from the interval Docherty had another effort at goal, but his shot was deflected over for a corner that ultimately led to nothing.
Hamilton started the second half brightly and when Docherty was sent into the box on 48 minutes, a deflection took his shot narrowly over the bar.
Imrie sent Kurtaj into the box shortly afterwards but he slipped his low shot inches past the right post.
Eamonn Brophy replaced Alex D'Acol after 68 minutes and within two minutes saw a low angled shot tipped onto the right post by Fox.
Matthews denied Gardyne and Imrie finally broke the deadlock, with Hamilton having further chances to score.
And though substitute Danny Seaborne was relieved to see his sliced clearance land wide of his left post, they held on for the points.
