Archibald Eyes End Of Partick's Winless Run
Partick boss Alan Archibald claims he has taken encouragement from seeing other teams pick up their first wins of the season.
Partick boss Alan Archibald claims he has taken encouragement from seeing other teams pick up their first wins of the season.
Thistle are now the only top-flight team without a league victory after Kilmarnock and Inverness both got off the mark last week.
Archibald believes it is just a matter of time before his own side claim their first three points of the campaign but admits victory must come soon or Partick could risk being cast adrift.
Archibald said: "We know we're one victory away from getting back into the pack.
"Kilmarnock and Inverness both did it last week. You take encouragement from that.
"We also take encouragement from the way we played last week.
"It would be a lot more difficult if we'd been really bad and hadn't created anything.
"But the players know how well we played - we just didn't get the rewards for it.
"It's important we get the first win quickly as we don't want a gap to open up."
Archibald believes his side were unlucky to take nothing from last week's game against Dundee, when they were beaten 1-0 by a 77th-minute Greg Stewart strike.
The Partick manager is determined to lift his players ahead of Saturday's trip to Ross County.
He added: "The boys were down on Monday - I'm not going to lie - and we just have to pick them up and make sure they're ready to go again this weekend.
"Nobody likes being at the bottom of the league and it's the first time we've been there for a long time.
"It didn't make pleasant reading on the Sunday morning but I don't think we should be looking at the table and worrying about it."
