Zero covid patients in Tayside hospitals

NHS Tayside has reported there are currently zero patients in hospital with COVID-19.

It's being hailed as a major milestone for NHS Tayside in the fight against coronavirus.

The Chief Executive of NHS Tayside's has revealed the health board currently has zero COVID positive patients in its hospital.

Mr Archibald paid tribute to the people of Tayside for continuing their responsibility to their community and said "our success is your success."

It's a milestone moment for the healthboard, when back in Janurary the number of patients in Tayside's hospitals reached record levels, with a health care assistant exclusivley telling Tay News the staff were at "breaking point"

Dr Emma Fletcher also gave an update on the vaccination programme in Tayside.

"Overall, whilst there are the occasional sporadic cases and clusters which we closely monitor and respond to, there is not the widespread community transmission we have seen in previous months"

Over 60% of the adult population has had their first dose of the vaccine, with 30% having had their second.
