Six youths charged following major fire in Dundee

The major blaze resulted in the buildings demolition

Six youths have been charged following the major fire at the former Robertson's furniture store on Saturday 12th November 2022.

Four 13-year-old males, a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old male have been arrested and charged following the blaze.

Police Scotland Say reports will now be sent to the Youth Justice Assessor and Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Constable David Feeney, from Dundee CID said : “We are aware of the devastating impact this fire had on Dundee and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for assisting with our investigation.”

Dundee City Council ruled the building to be in an 'unsafe condition' and acted quickly to demolish it.

Speaking to Tay News last week, MSP for Dundee City East Shona Robison said: "It very much is a sad time for the city to lose what was a grade B listed building, an iconic art deco building from the 1930's.

"It's a horrible situation and a loss to the city."
