A £3-million remodelling plan for Abertay Uni gets underway this month.

Morrison Construction has been appointed to carry out the major remodelling works planned for this summer for part of the Kydd Building, the University’s main teaching and research block.

The University is investing around £3 million in upgrade and refurbishment works in the north wing of the Kydd Building, beginning this month, upgrading two existing laboratories on Level 5, carrying out major refurbishments on Level 4, and making some alterations on Level 3. A spokesman for the university said: “The most visible part of the works will be a complete reconstruction of the southern façade of the north wing. “The spaces to be remodelled are currently occupied by Abertay’s School of Science, Engineering and Technology.

“The School will use the new facilities for its teaching and research activities across a range of courses in science and technology that require specialist laboratories. “The works will begin over the summer and continue until the end of the year, with the most disruptive phases scheduled for the summer vacation.

“They are the first phase of a major improvement of facilities at the University planned over the next few years."
