Woman charged in connection with death of pensioner in Dundee

Police received a report the 97-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in April

A woman has been charged in connection with the death of a 97-year-old man in Dundee.

In April, police received a report of the assault and attempted robbery of the man at a property in Dryburgh Gardens.

He was treated in hospital for his serious injuries but died on May 25.

The 43-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court in April, when she was remanded in custody.

She has now been charged in connection with the elderly man’s death and is due to reappear at Dundee Sheriff Court on September 19.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 43-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the death of a 97-year-old man in Dundee.

“On Monday, 15 April, 2024, police received a report of the assault and attempted robbery of a 97-year-old man at a property in Dryburgh Gardens.

“A woman was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 17 April, 2024, when she was remanded in custody.

“The victim received hospital treatment for his serious injuries and subsequently died on Saturday, 25 May, 2024.

“Further enquiries were carried out and, as a result, the 43-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the man’s death.”
