Enquiries ongoing following "wilful" fire in Dundee block of flats

Enquires are ongoing following a fire in a Dundee block of flats.

Emergency services were alerted at around 10:30am on Monday, 8th April, 2024, to the fire at a property on Charleston Drive.

Three fire appliances attended alongside Police officers and the fire in a communal stairwell was extinguished.

Police are treating the fire as wilful.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.33am on Monday, 8 April to reports of a dwelling fire on Charleston Drive.

"Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to the scene, where firefighters extinguished a fire affecting the communal stairwell of a flat block.

"Crews left at 11.49am after ensuring the area was safe."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.35am on Monday, 8 April, police were called to a report of a fire at a block of flats in Charleston Drive, Dundee.

"The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are continuing."
