A vehicle is stuck on a railway embankment in Fife causing a line to be closed due to the risk the vehicle falling on to the track.

The line between Ladybank and Perth has been closed. ScotRail said via twitter: "This doesn't affect our services to/from Aberdeen, but it does impact trains between Edinburgh, Perth & Inverness."

They added: "We've got two replacement coaches heading our way. The first one is due to Inverkeithing around 1600, the second at Perth by 1645. These will run non-stop between Inverkeithing & Perth."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We were made aware of a crash involving a vehicle which left the B937 near Cupar shortly after 2.05pm.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance."

Network Rail provided an update from their Scottish twitter account stating: "The recovery of the vehicle from the embankment above the railway between Ladybank and Perth is going to be a bit more complex than first envisaged.

"We're working alongside the emergency services to complete this as safely as possible."
