One of the Oor Wullie Bucket trail statues has been targeted by vandals.
‘Dreamland Wullie’ was found lying in the road at Barnhill Rock Gardens in Broughty Ferry early on Sunday morning, after being taken off its base.
Police recoved the damaged sculpture and it was later returned to the trail's organisers.
They say the statue probably won't be returned to his plinth but he will be fully restored for a gathering of all 95 Wullies at Slessor Gardens on Saturday to mark the end of the trail before they are auctioned off.
The funds will be used to help build a new twin theatre suite at Tayside Children's Hospital.
Our Wullie Bucket Trail project manager Neil Cooney said his team is disappointed:
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses after an Oor Wullie statue was vandalised at the Barnhill rock gardens, The Esplanade, Broughty Ferry sometime between 1.30am and 2am on Sunday morning. The statue was removed from its base.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. “
