Giovanni van Bronckhorst heaps praise on Rangers debutant Alex Lowry
The 18-year old scored in their Scottish Cup win over Stirling Albion
Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is heaping praise on youngster Alex Lowry after his impressive debut for the club.
The 18-year old came off the bench and bagged a goal in the Ibrox side's 4-0 Scottish Cup win against Stirling Albion.
Lowry replaced the injured Ianis Hagi just 15 minutes into the game and quickly caught the eye of the home crowd.
The attacking midfielder found the net half an hour into the game when he calmly slotted home from Juninho Bacuna's pass.
He was named man of the match as the Light Blues booked their place in the next round of the competition and van Bronckhorst was delighted with his contribution.
He told Sky Sports: "He's very talented.
"He has been training with us for some time now and today was good for me to give those youngsters a chance if possible.
"With the injury to Hagi, I could bring him on earlier than I expected.
"He did really well. You can see his quality.
"The way he plays football is very intelligent and the goal he scored was really good.
"I'm happy for him that he made his debut and we're here to develop further and give him the chance to become a better player each day.
"You can see he is not afraid to take people on with his dribbling.
"He has a very good view around him, he knows his surroundings and scans the game a lot.
"Technically he's good so that gives him all the ability to be the player he is now".
